The commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Höss, and his wife Hedwig, strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp. Without showing it explicitly, Jonathan Glazer conveys the horror of the Auschwitz concentration camp. His film, inspired by Martin Amis' novel "Zone of Interest", was awarded the Grand Jury Prize and the Critics' Prize (FIPRESCI) at the Cannes Festival.
