The Missile

1984, Finnish Lapland. Single mother Nina accidentally smashes the window of the «Lappland News». The peace-loving editor-in-chief is persuaded to let her work off the damage by writing cheerful articles. But Nina senses a big story: was she really the only one who heard the deafening bang? When Finnish defense forces arrive in the village, evidence mounts that a Soviet missile has crashed into the ice. While the lethargic Laplanders prefer to ignore any nuclear fears, Nina throws herself into an absurd investigative quest – always just one missile’s length away from the truth.

With an army of eccentric characters and a fearless, endearing heroine, the comedy «The Missile» tells the hilarious yet touching story of a woman’s journey of self-discovery – set against the colorful absurdities of the 1980s.
