1986. Maria, a revolutionary activist from Guatemala, has been living in exile in Mexico for years, where she continues her political activities. When her ten-year-old son moves in with her, she has to make a difficult decision between her role as a mother and her role as an activist.
For his second feature film, César Díaz combines his personal story with that of his home country Guatemala. He already dealt with the civil war in Guatemala in his first film «Nuestras madres», which was awarded the «Caméra d’Or» in Cannes. Inspired by the biography of his own mother, he now tells of the conflict between political ideals and personal needs. The thriller celebrated its premiere on the Piazza Grande in Locarno.
