Two chimney sweeps, both living in monogamous, heterosexual marriages, find themselves in situations that cause them to question their ideas about sexuality and gender roles. One of them experiences an intimate encounter with a man - without understanding it as an expression of homosexual desire or infidelity towards his wife. The other dreams that he is a woman. The experience irritates and disturbs him, and he begins to reflect on the extent to which the gaze of others shapes his identity.
