The sisters July and September are inseparable – yet fundamentally different. While July looks at the world with openness and curiosity, September is protective and wary of others. When September is suspended from school, July is forced to stand on her own for the first time – and begins to claim her independence, much to her sister’s dismay. Together with their single mother Sheela, they seek refuge in an old holiday home in Ireland, where tensions between the three very different women steadily rise.

In her compelling directorial debut, French-Greek actress Ariane Labed crafts an intimate portrait of two sisters – defined by deep connection and inevitable conflict. The adaptation of Daisy Johnson’s bestselling novel «Sisters» had its world premiere in 2024 at the Cannes Film Festival in the «Un Certain Regard» section.
