Ghostlight

Dan is a construction worker in Chicago and under immense pressure. After a confrontation with a driver, he is temporarily suspended from work. Tensions at home are rising as well: his teenage daughter Daisy becomes increasingly rebellious until she is eventually expelled from school. By chance, Dan stumbles upon a local theatre group and takes on a role in their production of «Romeo und Julia». While he initially keeps his new hobby a secret from his family, the drama on stage begins to mirror his own life and forces him to confront a long-suppressed loss.

«Ghostlight» is a sensitive and finely observed film about family grief and the healing power of art. With remarkable authenticity — the lead actors are also a real-life family — and great sensitivity, the film portrays loss, closeness, and the complex dynamics between parents and children.
