Sadie has had enough of the bleak everyday life on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Caught between poorly paid jobs, violent men, and old black-and-white Westerns on television in which she finds no reflection of herself, she sees no real future. She decides to embark on a mystical journey: a magical potion prepared by her grandfather allows her to leave her body and travel through space and time.

In his star-studded new film, the adventurous master of Argentine cinema Lisandro Alonso takes the audience on a journey across centuries and continents – between Mexico, Brazil, and the United States, between dream and myth, between Western and postcolonial fable. What begins as an ironically fractured Western starring Viggo Mortensen unfolds into a multilayered mosaic of the lived realities of Indigenous communities.
