Pinocchio (German version)

When the woodcarver Geppetto one day finds a very special piece of wood, he sets out to carve a marionette. Soon, however, something magical happens: the cheeky wooden puppet begins to speak, walk, and behave like an ordinary boy. Geppetto names him Pinocchio and raises him as his own son. But Pinocchio finds it hard to stay out of trouble. Easily led astray, he stumbles from one mishap to the next. The Fairy with the Blue Hair gently tries to guide him and makes one thing clear: his greatest wish can only come true if he learns to take responsibility. For Pinocchio dreams of becoming a real boy of flesh and blood.

In his reinterpretation of the world-famous classic, director Matteo Garrone returns to the story’s origins, creating a mysterious fantasy world filled with humour and emotion. Starring Roberto Benigni as Geppetto.
