Ángela and Héctor are happily married. She is deaf but can read lips, while Héctor has learned sign language to make their shared everyday life as barrier-free as possible. But Ángela’s pregnancy calls many things into question. Although the expectant parents try to prepare for every possible situation, concerns begin to grow: Will their child be able to hear? And should that question even matter?

With great sensitivity and a nuanced perspective, director Eva Libertad explores the complex relationship between sensory impairment and societal perception. Deaf lead actress Miriam Garlo brings remarkable authenticity and depth to her character. The film premiered at the Berlinale, where it won the Audience Award.
