L'Étranger

Algiers, 1938. Meursault, a quiet, unassuming office clerk in his thirties, attends his mother’s funeral without any visible display of emotion. The very next day, he begins an affair with Marie, a former co-worker, and returns to his habitual routine. This fragile normality is soon disrupted by his neighbour Raymond, who draws Meursault into shady dealings – until, on a scorching hot day at the beach, events culminate in a fateful tragedy.
