In 1982, François Mitterrand launched an anonymous architectural competition for a monumental structure to be built along the historic axis from the Louvre to the Arc de Triomphe. In a surprise decision, the commission was awarded to the 53-year-old Danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen, who was largely unknown in France at the time. Virtually overnight, he found himself leading the largest construction project of his era. Yet his visionary concept for the Grande Arche increasingly came into conflict with political interests, bureaucratic obstacles, and the constraints of reality.

This compelling biographical drama portrays the tragicomic struggle for artistic integrity when ideals collide with power structures and personal sacrifices become inevitable. A poignant portrait of unwavering conviction.
