Hanami

On a remote volcanic island, from which everyone wants to leave, Nana learns to stay. Her mother, Nia, who suffers from a mysterious illness, leaves the island shortly after Nana’s birth. When Nana develops a high fever and is sent to the foot of a volcano for treatment, she discovers a world suspended between dream and reality. Years later, as a teenager, Nia returns – and Nana must confront her past.

«Hanami» emerges from the interplay of tangible and intangible elements – stories and experiences that shape the lives of many Cape Verdeans.
