In the 1930s, Leonora Carrington breaks with the social conventions of her time and joins the Surrealist movement. In Paris, she encounters artistic figures such as Salvador Dalí and André Breton. Above all, it is her passionate relationship with the painter Max Ernst that sets her on a journey of self-discovery. Between art, desire and inner turmoil, Leonora must assert herself in a world in upheaval. With the outbreak of the Second World War, she flees to Mexico, where she finds both her freedom and her own artistic voice.

The British-Mexican painter Leonora Carrington is considered one of the defining artists of the 20th century and is often mentioned alongside Frida Kahlo and Georgia O’Keeffe. Yet her work remained largely underappreciated in the international art world for many years. This biopic offers a compelling portrait of her extraordinary life. Olivia Vinall delivers a powerful performance as Carrington, with Alexander Scheer appearing alongside her as Max Ernst.
