Romería

Marina, who was adopted as a child, must track down part of her biological family in order to obtain a civil registry document required for her studies. Guided by her mother’s diary, she travels to the Spanish Atlantic coast, where she meets her father’s family, whom she has never known. Marina’s arrival brings the past back to life. By reconstructing the memory of her parents, she uncovers unspoken secrets and hidden stories.

«Romería» is the third feature film by Carla Simón, completing her trilogy on family memory, which began with «Summer 1993» and «Alcarràs». Inspired by her own story, Simón unfolds as a sensitive meditation on origins, memory, and inner renewal.
