The Great Dictator

Dictator Adenoid Hynkel dreams of world domination, rules his empire of Tomania with an iron fist, and has the Jewish population persecuted by his henchmen. A Jewish barber, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Hynkel, bravely resists the persecution and becomes a victim of the war propaganda himself. After escaping from a concentration camp, he is promptly mistaken for the dictator.

Chaplin’s first sound film is a personal and political statement against fascism and dictatorship.
