Kneecap

When Belfast teacher JJ meets Naoise and Liam Óg’s self-proclaimed trash band, a hip-hop group like no other is born. As «Kneecap», they rap in their native Irish and soon become the unlikely figureheads of a civil rights movement fighting to save the Irish language. But the trio must stand up to police, paramilitaries and politicians determined to silence their rebellious sound. At the same time, their anarchic lifestyle often makes them their own worst enemies.

A film that pushes the boundaries of the classic music biopic: a wild sex-and-drugs-and-hip-hop story in which the Northern Irish rap trio «Kneecap» plays itself. With breakneck energy and irreverent humour, the film tells a story of music, rebellion and the struggle to preserve one’s own culture. As outrageous, unruly and lovable as the hip-hop group itself.
