Burning

Sohee is a high school student focusing on a job training education. Hoping for a good job, Sohee starts an job training at a subcontracted call center, but she faces big pressure of greedy company. It is too hard for high school student to bear this situation and it leads to her death. Detective Oh Yoo-jin, who has something in common with Sohee, becomes in charge of this case. She starts to follow traces to reveal the causes of her death.

1986 Gyunggi Province. The body of a young woman is found brutally raped and murdered. Two months later, a series of rapes and murders commences under similar circumstances. Three people live in a remote Buddhist monastery near Mount Chonan: Hyegok, the old master; Yong Nan, a young man who has left his extended family in the city to seek enlightenment, and an orphan lad Haejin, whom Hyegok has brought to the monastery to raise as a monk. The story is mostly Yong Nan's, told in flashbacks: how he came to the monastery, his brief return to the city, his vacillation between the turbulence of the world and his hope to overcome passions and escape the idea of self. We also see Hyegok as a teacher, a protector, and a father figure, and we watch Haejin make his way as a curious and nearly self-sufficient child.

Widowed for a long time, a mother lives alone with her only son, Do-joon. He is 28 years old, a shy and quiet young man. In the aftermath of a terrible murder, the woman’s hopeless, helpless son becomes the prime suspect. There is no real evidence against him, but the police throw groundless suspicion at him simply because there is no way he can prove his innocence. Eager to close the case, the police are happy with their cursory investigation and arrest the boy. His defense attorney turns out to be incompetent and unreliable, making a conviction seem inevitable. Faced with no other choice, his mother gets involved, determined to prove her son’s innocence.

In 2031, the attempt to stop global warming has plunged the Earth into a new ice age. The last remnants of mankind are stuck on a racing train: the rich and powerful in the front, their military henchmen in the middle, and in the last wagons the lumpen proletarians, who are just gathering against their oppressors. Under their reluctant leader Curtis, this time everything will be different from the last uprising.

Youngho tries to find a way between his dream of becoming an actor and his parents' expectations. While his girlfriend leaves to study in Berlin, the young man sees the opportunity for a fresh start.

An American base in South Korea dumps its toxic chemical waste into the nearby Han River. Over time, this creates a mutated amphibious giant monster that one day emerges from the river near Seoul and makes life unsafe for snack bar owner Park Gang-du (Song Kang-ho) and his family – and everyone else. Bong Joon-ho's "The Host" is not a pure sci-fi flick, as the director was inspired by a real toxic waste scandal and peppered the story with political allusions, satire and slapstick humor. After its release, the film broke all attendance records in South Korea. An always great Song Kang-ho ("Parasite", "Memories of Murder") shines in the leading role.
