Love Island

Grebo and his heavily pregnant wife Liliane are spending their summer holidays at a resort on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. Before long, the karaoke enthusiast finds himself drawn to the alluring diving instructor Flora. But Liliane, too, discovers in the attractive foreigner the great love she thought she had lost forever. The unexpected love triangle puts the young couple’s relationship to the test – because on this island of love, it’s all inclusive.

With her debut feature «Grbavica», Jasmila Žbanić won the Golden Bear at the 2006 Berlin International Film Festival. While that film explored the aftermath of the Bosnian War, «Love Island» takes a much lighter approach. With great charm, Žbanić crafts a lively summer comedy, capturing both the small and the big dramas of life in a holiday paradise.
