Detroit, Michigan. On January 6, 1994, shortly before the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, the world of figure skating is violently shaken when U.S. medal hopeful Nancy Kerrigan becomes the victim of a brutal attack. The shock is even greater when it emerges that her archrival Tonya Harding may have been involved in the assault. But how did it come to this? Despite an extremely demanding mother and the harshest circumstances, Tonya drives herself to perfection on the ice. Technically brilliant, she masters jumps and elements with ease, yet lacks elegance and grace. When she meets Jeff Gillooly, she finally manages to break free from her tyrannical mother.
