Courtroom drama

Although courtroom scenes were already a thing during the silent film era, the courtroom drama really only established itself as a film genre with the introduction of the talkies. In the cinema, the courtroom becomes the setting for drama of all sorts – lawsuits are heard, divorces take place, guilt and innocence gets decided over, and in some countries, it is even a matter of life and death. It is no suprise, then, that courtroom dramas are attracting a great deal of interest from audiences around the world. From a trial about illegaly organized poker games, to the rocky path of a female lawyer to top of the Supreme Court, to the fictional trial of the Kongo war – this genre is rich in variety. Our verdict is already clear: Unmissable.
